Been keeping a lazy eye out for a sickle mower to mow road and ditch banks. Talked to a fellow this morning that has an older 7' 3 point wobble box mower that he is willing to part with as it hasn't been used in 2 to 3 years as he now uses a conditioner. Did mention that along the line he had changed all the gards to JD but had been robbing them for his conditioner. Didn't have a model number for the mower but would get back to me with more info. Is it possible that this could be something that will meet my needs or is there possibly a model that I should shy away from. All along I have thought that a mower needing things as gards blades and possibly a bar is what I want but not really interested in a troublesome wobble box or other drive components. I know this is not a lot of info but an knowledge of these would be appreciated.

The big advantage of a wobble box over a pitman is that you can mow with the bar raised or lowered from horizontal, handy for ditches and banks; a pitman mower only runs with the bar level.

Probably shouldn't be doing this here but drop me an email and give me the particulars on your mower, Jim. I am cutting later this week if weather permits. Wouldn't mind having a backup mower. Model, condition, location, and price.
Send me an email and we will get off the forums.

I am located in Virginia. Could you describe just what Semi mount means? I am not familiar with these.

semi mount means that it hooks on the drawbar and has a tail wheel on the back, it monuts to the tractor drawbar with a couple bolts,, works nice, usually seen in JD and IHC mowers,,,Jim
