Hi,

my wife and I are putting together a horse farm in washington and are in need of a manure spreader. Our plan is to compost the manure and shavings and then spread it on our fields, but we may end up sometimes mucking directly into the spreader and then putting it on the fields. I'm wondering what you people woud recommend in terms of manure spreader brands. We've got a 75hp tractor and would prefer a PTO driven spreader. I would like to buy a piece of equipment that will be durable and am fine with buying a new one. What brands would you guys consider buying? Also, what are the benefits/drawbacks of a side spreader as opposed to a rear spreader? Thanks!

call chandler equipment 1-800-243-3319 and ask for info and local dealers. the quality of their manure spreaders is the best i have seen and they will make them somewhat custom.

As far as used spreaders, New Idea spreaders seem to have been made well and should be in decent supply. They made a variety of different sizes, and I think a lot of parts are still available. Hope this helps.
