I bought a New Holland 451 sicklebar mower to use on my NH 4430 tractor. The tractor has a full cab, so I'll need to convert the mower bar to hydraulic lift. It seems pretty straightforward, but I'd like to hear from anyone with thoughts and/or experience doing this.

Walter,
Did you convert the mower bar to hydraulic lift? I've found with mine that the lift cable won't lift the bar enough to cut ditch banks, etc. and am thinking about trying to rig a hydraulic cylinder. Would like to see some pictures of other efforts or modifications like this.

Thanks Paul. You are probably right. I haven't yet mounted the mower and just assumed the lift was manual.

Thought the 451 just used 3pt & a cable to lift the bar?
