You could pull a NH 469 no problem. Maybe even in 3rd gear. 2nd gear for sure.
Any 7 footer would do and any older 9 footer.
Go for it man its fun!!!!

I also run a 990 with a m works good. Have mowed some real tall sudan grass with no problem. One year i ran some drought corn through it didn,t do the 990 any good but did it anyway. So yea you can run it with a m.

I had a few breakdowns a while back on flat land. I had to use the m on the New Holland 489. The hydraulics don't work on the M, good thing the field was opened up. It did the job but sure was glad when the 460 was back on the job with live power and power steering. Just my 2 cents.Tom

I ran the old 990 IH with the H for years. It was a 9 foot. It worked it pretty hard in heavy grass but it did the job. An M would have alot more power to play with. With a 990 IH you could keep the whole rig red.

Guy I got my 272 7' cutditioner from said he was running it with a M. Might be possible, the 1755 diesel doesn't even know it's back there.

New Holland 477, 478, 472, John Deere 1207, 1217, all 7' models. There are Hesston 7' models out there too, but other than the PT-7, the models escape me. An M would also handle a 9' sickle-type mower conditioner.

One caution on the John Deere mowers, they use a small bore single acting hydraulic cylinder for the lift, and your M may not have pressure enough to make it work. Most other brands use a standard Agricultural cylinder, and you can put on a big enough bore so that they will lift with the M's low pressure system, even though they might be slow.

I have run a Hesston PT 7, PT 10, and 1091 with my M. The 1091 is pretty heavy, (3500# according to the manual) which makes it a little bit hard on the hills, but on flat ground I can always mow in second gear, and usually in third.

It'll be harder work without live pto, but it will work. :)

I have a NH 778 - 9 ft. and have cut with my Farmall H in a bind. Only problem with the H is the hydraulics are a little slow and not live but had plenty of power. My normall tractor is my Farmall MD with wide front, power steering and live hydraulics which makes a great tractor for cutting hay. Going to cut some more hay tomorrow if the weather holds. The MD has a M&W hand clutch also but the timkin bearing went bad and I had to bolt the clutch plates together until I can find a used clutch with a good bearing. A new timkin bearing is over 1,200 dollars.
