IH sickle mowers

I have an old IH mower and I'm not sure which model it is, I have it narrowed down to the 27V or 31 mowers. Can anyone give me some info on how to tell the diff. between the two? Thanks in advanced

I have a #31 sickle mower. The 31 has a breakaway that involves the entire frame, while I don't have any experience with a 27 I am told the 25/27 has a breakaway that involves only the bar. My 31 is set up to use with a C/Super C and uses a special tractor mounted hitch. The breakaway is basically on the top of the hitch and swings away on a single pivot bolt and has a tensioning spring on the left facing the mower from the hitch. Hope this helps.
