Round-up is "Soil Inactive". That means when it comes in contact with dirt, it no longer does anything. By discing first, you would incorperate most of the weeds with the soil, negating the effects of the round-up. By spraying now, you would eliminate those weed that are growning now. The weeds would seed themselves, as mentioned, and begin re-growth. You would be able to kill off the regrowth later this summer, right before tilling/planting again. Based on what you've told us, I'd opt for bush hogging now, then again in a few weeks. I'd save the round-up, and it's cost, for use a couple weeks before discing this fall. It won't really accomplish much, by killing off the weeds now, then just having them regrow, and dealing with them AGAIN. Also, discing now, will incorperate the weed seeds into the soil. where they will be protected, and only germinate when soil conditions are right, sometime down the road. My "opinion", wait untill you're almost ready to seed before spending time/money on prepping the field. John
