I was mowing hay yesterday with my NH 489 haybine and was wondering if I had a discbine would the hay dry any faster or not? I always tedd out the hay right after mowing. Just was wondering what you guys thought? I can usually bale 2 days after mowing with good sunshine.

Farmertee; I run both types of mowers, only difference is disc bine is no plug machine in any condition. I do no ted. What works the best for me is to mow and put the swath into the tighest windrow the machine will make. Rick

don't know of any reason the method of cut would help the hay dry any better.. disc-bine would certainly speed things up. With enough HP and the right crop you can mow as fast as you want... thus more drying time... I'd still ted up the hay regardless of the way it was mowed especially here in the north east/mid-west where its hard to get it dry... of course rain everyday doesn't help either.....
