Not a cloud in the sky, no signs of rain. Forecast finally shows no rain for possibly a week. So they say! Could it be possible that a little hay cutting is not too far away.

Where the heck are you? We still got rain in the forecast for 5 days yet, after that they won't tell us. We've got 2 feilds cut for a week now, and one is new seeding last year so the ground is really soft. Even when the rain does hold up we won't be able to get it.

Yea they are changing it again. Rained last night.
Almost got sucked in. I was going to cut some last night. Could have gotten in on the high side of one field.
Now they say chance of storms Tuesday. Grrrrr!
I hope it clears. really want to be baling this weekend.

Well, I might be baleing some hay tomorrow evening. I raked some tonight, atleast what I could, and the forecast is clear now until late tomorrow night and then clear againg til Saturday morining, then maybe clear again. If'n I play my cards right I might still be able to go to the tractor pulls sometime this weekend. I have a project I'm working on now for our baler, to mount a dual wheel on the chamber side. We have the old dual wheel mount off an old chopper, but it's too narrow and the inside bolt pattern is wrong. I'm gonna try to copy it at work and make one that is a 6-bolt pattern, by 6" wide. Would mount a wider tire on our baler, but we just put a new 6.70-15 on and we have a spare 5.90 off our haybine we can mount on the outside. If it works good I might make a few and sell them.

Talk about high school teens wanting money and when you tell them your baling and need help loading trucks in the field, its like they all put their track shoes on, you couldn't catch one even with a pellet gun. they all want money but no one wants to work for it!!!!! !!

Noticed a lot of the farmers around here only cutting say 1/2 a field at a time -- I think between high hay, lack of manpower, and not trusting the beautiful weather to last they didn't want to get caught with too much hay to bring in and too little time!

Remember when I was growing up (20 years ago say...) seeing 3-4 guys working a hay crew stacking in the wagons. Same farms today you see one guy on the tractor and just shooting the bails into the wagon, so more trips to the barn, and longer unloading that thing by themselves.

No kids wanting to hay anymore, heck I'm having a hard time just getting a teen who can fit me into his schedule to help stack brush & rake around me yard!
