Heston 5800 Rounder belts

Had a real time with mine getting long stemmy sudan to start the roll. Finally, last year I popped a belt and decided it was time to redo all as they stretch, friction rubber wears down, and the gator grips pull out.

Due to the cost I got the best belts in the 2 center slots: 3 ply chevron design. Next, I wanted a square bale rather than a whiskey barrel so the outer belt (both sides) was the rough texture 2ply. The remaining 4 were just plain old belt, 2 ply.

Was able to get in 2 rolls (only) this year and I can't tell you the difference in pick up. It's better than night and day. It's fabulous.

The belts stretch and may have stretched out too far. I don't have the length with me but I can supply you with that when I get home tonight.

My baler has the 3rd spring option. Yours may only have 2. If so, you may be able to shorten your belts, and/or add a spring to each side.

We're on page 2 of the forum now so if we get too far back we can start over. Just say Hesston 5800 and I'll catch it. An old implement junk yard may have one wrecked out and you could get the springs from them.

Open and go to baler belts. There are 2 ply and 3 ply. The more plies, the more the money but the longer (obviously) the belt lasts.

The best friction belt they have is the 9300 Chevron belt (v or W pattern) and If you didn't do the whole 8 belts with this, I'd do at least the middle 2.

The 9300 mini-rough top has a real rough top and is usually what comes on OEM.

The plane jane doesn't do anything much but is there to keep the bale shape.

As I said, I did the 3 ply chev in the center 2, 2 ply mini-rough tops on the outer 2, and 2 ply plane jane for the rest. At that I spent $1000. If you went with 9300 Chevron, you would be up around $1500. If I was doing custom work I would, but I don't bale that much hay.

Again, it is unbelieveable what those 2 chev's do to get that bale rolling...it is immediate.

One last thing. Get the heavy duty hardware. Doesn't cost that much more but side by side, the regular clips are junk. The alligator (I think they call it) fastners are RIVETED to the belt fabric. The regular stuff is just like hog rings and can't possibly hold as well.
