Gents, am new to this forum and am looking for some advice. I have decided to do a small amount of haying for 4-H animals and local horse owners.I am looking at a NH 489 haybine in good/v. good condition with a newer (2-year-old) "wobble box". Asking price is $3500 - fair price? Was told the former owner who moved out of state has about $4500 tied up in it. Other items are: NH 68 Superhayliner baler, good/v. good condition, great paint, was told it only missed about 1 bale out of 300. The asking price is $500. Gehl haybine, looks decent but sitting in the tall weeds can't see much, looked like it had steel rollers, will get another look at it this week. Owner wants it gone for $100. He uses other equipment and got this in a package purchase deal so has no knowledge of shape, ability, or condition. I figure it's a worthy gamble. JD 4-bar rake, older but has most of its paint, $100. What do I look for on a hay rake? Would most like anyone's thoughts on these prices (especially the NH 489) and what I should be looking for as far as wear, misalignment, etc. Thanks, and hope your haying weather is dry! Tom
