Sickle bar swath board height??

How should the part ( metal rods or wooden board) that bolts to the swath board that deflects the cut hay from falling into the uncut hay be set for height? Should it ride on the ground or be set higher? Thanks!!

They are only made to slide on the ground, no provision to tighten to carry.

Of course it depends a lot on the height of the hay you are cutting but your swathboard should be about 8" high and 18"to24" long with a stick coming up at about a 30deg angle to help pull the falling hay away from the uncut hay. This makes a place for the shoe to ride on the next round sothat the cut hay doesn't ball up.
