I bought it used and it never has mixed right, feed wants to hang in the cone. I wirebrushed the cone and painted it with slip plate, still won't slide down. I need some suggestions every batch i unload is straight corn at about the last 500 lb.

There is a knife at the bottom of the mixing auger. Yours is either very worn or missing. This could be your problem. Also check the bottom of your auger mixing tube. It could also be worn at the bottom. You should still be able to get parts for it. I have been working on these for 15 years and bet that one of these two things would solve your problem.

Try starting the mix with a bale or 2 of dry hay then add the corn, after the hay has circulated around for 3-4 minutes. It dries off any condensation, cleans off any minor surface rust and the roughage helps it keep from sticking.

Thanks for the responses,, it is a hamermill 21" I think, although I'm using a 1" screen it does grind it up more than I expected and what comes out unmixed is the finest, almost like cornmeal. I will try slowing the pto speed next time to see if that will help. The moisture is between 14 and 15 percent. It does seem to be a nice grinder I just wish it had the hydraulic kit on it.

how wet is your feed????? that may be part of the problem.. like TP said larger screens larger particles thus less particle to particle friction and easier movement.... good dry grain/corn shouldn't give too much trouble... Gehl grinder should last you pretty well... is it a roller or hammer mill???? good luck

My NH 357 does the same thing, although my old IH 1150 never did..... ..... ..I got a bigger screen for the NH and it solved the problem.
