release belt tension?

I have a Woods RM306-1 mower and just replaced the belt for the first time. A flyer inside the Woods belt box says to release the tension on the belt when not in use. This seems to be a bit excessive to me, since I have to remove four nuts and washers, the pulley cover, and loosen the idler pulley nut to change the tension. Not something I want to do everytime I mow, which has been pretty often this spring. Anyone know if releasing the tension each time is a good idea? And anyone that thinks it is a good idea, please let me know if you actually do it, yourself.
Thanks

Release the tension when storing over winter. Maintain proper tension when operating. Cover or store out of the sun. Keep clean and dry and free from grease or oil. You should be good-to-go for many seasons. Good luck. Ed
