I have a model A-24 mower that fits onto my Super A. When I got the mower the mow board (fits on the end of the sickle to pull the hay back into the middle of the swath) was broken. The broken mow board was made out of plywood. I bought a piece of pine to replace the broken plywood, but it broke also the heavy hay that I was cutting. What type of wood was used to build these originally. I was thinking that it was an oak or something like that. Anyone know. My Dad replaced his on the cub mower with a piece of steel. I guess he got tired of replacing them.

I'd use ash (or hickory) for its flexability. Be sure to paint it because it will rot.

You can get a metal one from Tractor Supply or Country General or probably any other farm supply store. Mine came from Tractor Supply and just yesterday I mowed timothy that was shoulder high and it held up just fine.

When the board broke on my old mower I ordered a generic replacement from my IH parts guy which is steel and works very well.

Marvin you definitely want to use a hardwood like oak, beach or even walnut if your bank account is big enough.
