Hesston 3717 Tedder

Today the AGCO dealer delivered me a Hesston 3717, 4 basket tedder to try out.I noticed the ID tag said that it was built in Italy by Rossi.Does anyone have any experiance with this model? What are there weak areas? I noticed that Rossi builds tedders for alot of other equipment companies.I know Hesston did build fairly good hay equipment. Thanks for your imput. John.

I've got the NI version of your Hesston. 2 things to watch ( that I have found)

1. 1 take the time to set the height. Ground contact can bend the arms. A bent arm on baskets 2 & 3 can hit the bottom (back corners) of the gear box. About 3 hits and you have a hole. Were I getting a new one I would weld a pc of steel angle on it before I ever used it.

2. A groundhog hole is just pefect to break off one of the wheels, usually right below where the spinner mounts.

Main thing I found is to slow down ground speed. I could ted in road gear but bouncing is what bends the arms. I ted at 50% of the speed I mow. Net is it takes as long to ted as it does to mow but does a way better job with way less damage.
