Having trouble getting the blades off. Are the reverse threads (manual doesn't state)? Any tips on getting them off. I just got this with the house purchase and two of the blades are partially broken.

Go buy an air compressor and a "good" impact wrench (CP or Ingersoll Rand). It will come in handy for lots of things. In few weeksyour wife will be wondering how you ever got along without it and fathers day is just around the corner.

Gary, they aren't left hand threaded, they'er just hard to get off. Use a 3/4 drive if you have it and a 3-4 ft. cheater. I've broken 1/2 drives so don't waste my time with them anymore. If you remove them a couple times a year you won't have any problems with them..... .....Good luck.

Sorry, a couple of more questions. I am using a 3/4 socket but unfortunately don't have a decent size breaker bar (guess it is time to get one). What do you use to keep the blades from turning? Currently I have the mower on the back of the tractor lifted up and am trying to use a block to keep the blades from turning.

Thanks for your help.

Gary, you don't need to keep the blades from turning. The blade rotates on the bolt (shoulder type) and bolt is keyed to the disc in the center. If you are going through the port on the deck just let your extention come up against the side of the whole in the deck.

I wrap a heavy rag around the blade and or use leather gloves.
Grab the blade with one hand and the brakerbar with the other.
When you put it back together use some antiseize lube.
