I'm thinking of tilling about 5 acres after haying it this summer to get it ready for fall planting of brome. I've read a lot about compacting the soil if it is tilled and planted. Can I use a flat roller, or do I need grooved rollers like cultipackers?

James, either one will work. Your objective will be to get the seed in good contact with the soil. In this area most people use a field roll. Good luck,,,,
