Need Recommendation on Disc Size

I have a 32 Hp Ford 1910. I want to buy a disc for it. I am trying to decide between a 5 foot and a 6 foot wide disc. Obviously, I would prefer the 6 foot disc, but I want to make sure that I will be able to pull it. The soil is a sand.

A five foot disc would just cover the tracks with the way that I have the wheels set.

It sounds like I will get a six foot disc, maybe seven if the price is right.

5' -- 19.6 sq ft
6' -- 29.3 ----- 44%
7' -- 38.5 ----- 96%

A 7' is a big machine and weighs proportionally, sticks out proportionally farther back from the tractor so load on hydraulics and front end lift is proportionally higher, plus terrain variations are much more apt to be a problem and with all that mass turning, if you hit something, your ability to wipe out your tractor's drive line is directly proportional (if your slip clutch/shear pin fail which they have been known to do).

Then there is the cost and the HP required to turn the blade.....get the point?

Few yrs. back I traded up to IH #37 Transport disk (10 ft) and have not looked back. Works good provided I do not get it to deep to overpower my tractor.
