I've used my 45 pto hp tractor on mine, and it works pretty good. Even then it bucks the tractor back and forth as it runs. I also noticed it makes a bit better (nicer) bales with my 60 hp tractor, and that's all i use now.

Hey Robert what part of west Michigan are you farming? We're here in the Battle Creek area. No hay making yet. Needs to stop raining and then the ground to dry up some. Nice Farmall is it a super or straight A?

Matthew,

I'm a ways north of you, and it's very wet here too. In fact it's raining as i type this..

The "A" i have is an "IH industrial" model, with the square front axle and foot feed for the gas. I don't use it much, but sometimes it's handy to pull a wagon or?????

I'm thinking about selling the baler, do you need one?

I expect when it stops raining it's going to be dry, dry, dry, so hope you can irrigate!!

Robert

If you are on pretty level terrain, you could get by with 40hp.you need to be able to keep your speed up to make a decent bale.I used to bale a lot of hay with a 265MF.I got a few scares on steep hillsides, but that tractor worked good,it had about 60hp.The 1130MF always worked the best on our terrain.
