May 23rd and I still have lots and lots to do.
Got my Farmall 400 running again, Put the new knife on my NH68, Got the new Knotter on, Welded a few peices that broke last summer. Sharpened the other knife. Put new fly wheel bushing on.
Time to put her back together and get The IH 241 in there for some lovin. Then my NH469 Haybine needs to be made ready. All this with working 12 hr days during the week. Grass is growing fast!!!

I know exactly where you're coming from. I do my haying with all old equipment. It can be a very satisfying feeling when everything works right but can also be aggravating. I guess my newest item is my rake, which was built in '62. I'm gradually getting everything in good shape. But I'm about fed up with the sickle mower. It works as well as it was intended to & it's tuned in about as good as it gets, but without live PTO, it's really a challenge. I don't usually get through a cutting without heading back to the shop for some kind of repair.

Kelly, Don't get down on things yet. You havent gone through a season with the 400 yet, You will need that to get the kinks worked out. Learn her quirks after a hard days work. Also you still have your faithful ol H waiting in the wings if something happens to the 400, There will allways be something to fix that just broke. A storm forecast to be here "in the morning". Somebody who thinks you didn't get to there hay patch quick enough, baled their hay too green ,too late, too tight, too loose, etc, etc.
In the end, when you lay your head on your pillow and you know in your heart you did the best job you could, with the situation that was given to you. Thank the LORD for the opertunity to serve your community with a service that is needed.
OBTW there will be a few folks that you will learn to say to " I am 3 weeks behind, try someone else for I can't get to you"

Sure has been a cool slow spring, was very dry, you catching all this rain? Must have 3" here the past 3 days - makes the hay grow, won't be able to harvest until it dries out! Got 25 acres of beans left to plant, all the corn to spray, my 1209 moco needs the rolls removed & a bad crack welded, and the 605F could use some new feeder belts.

And too muddy to do any of it! :) Ah, farming. :)
