Weasler CV Driveline Question

I have found a nice complete weasler CV PTO driveline for my 1997 566 John Deere baler. My baler is setup for 540 RPM, but the driveline has a 1000 RPM hookup on it. John Deere wants $315.00 for just the 540 yolk. I have the capability as a Millwright to machine the existing 1000 RPM sleeve from the yolk, but can't find just the 540 sleeve listed anywhere. Of course Weasler don't "talk" to people like us! I am willing to buy a damaged CV driveline just for the 540 yolk, unless someone knows where I might find the Quick disconnect sleeve in 540. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks in Advance; Barney

Have you tried looking for a short shaft that fits over your 540 pto shaft and the outside is splined for 1000 pto. My dad has one that he uses for on his Oliver 1955 when he gets a fertilizer buggy from the Co-op with a 1000 pto. He doesn't remember where he got from, but they are around.

Thanks hay Dr., but I only need the weasler 540 yolk with the disconnect sleeve to hook up to the tractor's 540 shaft. I was hoping someone would have a bent or damaged weasler CV with a good 540 yolk that they would sell. I didn't know you sold parts, I'll keep that in mind. Thanks for the reply; Barney

you may try another brand of farm equipment dealer as JD is a bit high $.. weasler made/makes pTO stuff for A LOT of equipment and some/much of it is off the shelf.. (therefore too.. more cross references at the salvage yards) the other colors may be the same but less $... you may have luck getting something someplace like TSC to adapt or modify to machine-n-weld together.. watch runout though or you could ruin that expensive PTO drive line and have wasted alot of time/effort and even MORE $$... good luck

My local TSC store carries assemble-it-yourself PTO stuff. They have 540 yokes separately. Your machinest could cut the spline part off one of those and machine it to fit your yoke, and weld them together.

Weld-A-Sprocket makes PTO stuff that you weld together, like their sprockets, and you can get splined hubs from them. Industrial power transmission suppliers may stock them. One source is Baum Hydraulics out of Omaha. I believe you have to set up an account to buy from them, or they may be willing to give you the name of a shop nearby that has an account with them.

Baum Hydraulics phone # is 1-800-228-9288
