Last January I posted a message whining about the performance of my Ford 501 sickle bar mower. I received advice from Farmered, timank, Jerry D in NC, Dan, Nebraska Cowman, and Norbert Kanzler. I followed their advice and replaced my ledger plates and a couple of stone guards. I also went over the adjustments on the knife assembly and made some major adjustments to more than one of them.

Today, I finally was able to test the changes. I mowed about 7 acres of clover / fescue mix and the mower worked infinitely better than it did last year. I still have about 18 or 20 more acres to cut, but since I do the whole process alone, I have to put it up in pieces.

Thanks to all of you guys for your advice. It was right on and really paid off.

Glad we could be of assistance. That sickle bar sure is a sweet sound isn't it
