On the right side of the engine from the hand crank is a plate with a number that is probably "VE412704119" on the left side of the plate. Other numbers may be "2130" by itself and what looks like 3 X 3 1/4. Can I use these to identify the engine? It's hand cranked, magneto. 4 cyl, in a square configuration, air-cooled, gas engine. If anybody can tell me of any parts substitutions, aftermkt suppliers, etc., sure would appreciate it.

Probably need 1/ a fuel pump diaphram (it may be sucking air through a small crack or two we can"t see), 2/ shaft that goes from cam to fuel pump (last fellow who used it thought this might have been the reason he couldn't keep it going), 3/ rotor . Cleaned it all up, was working 2-3 years ago and protected from weather -- not that we here in NM get any of that. Tried to get it running today, but no spark & no gas -- even to the glass bowl.

Does anybody put out copies of old repair or operator's manuals for Wisconsin engines or Case A-6 Combines - the way this site does/did for an 8-N I had a few years ago?

Thanks all,

Bill

Hi Bill. Your engine is a Model VE4. That is basicly all you need for identification. They were rated at 22-23 HP. Here in Amish country, they are still being used as power units. Parts are still available, but starting to get a little tougher to find. I probably have as much experience working on these motors as I do New Holland equipment. They were good old motors, but like most things, they are outdated. They are prone to magneto trouble and prone to sticky and burnt exhaust valves. They have an oil pump, but not pressure lubed. Other than that, they are not too bad. Steve
