Depends what plates you have.

60 cell, black (standard for beans) Take the corn rate and multiply by 5.

48 cell, blue I think (For large beans) Take the corn rate and multiply by 4.

Remember with the kinze meters you are planting by seeds as opposed to the bean cup which plants by pounds.

Good luck, you will like them.

I have a 7000 with the Kinze meter, so I can tell you the setting you need, if you tell me the row width, and the desired population, in thousands of seeds per acre- or seeds per foot of row. But think about this- don't you have the operator manual for the planter, and the chart for the meters? It is past the middle of May- crunch time to get the crop in the ground. You have one chance each year for timely planting, and there is nothing you can do afterwards to improve your yield! Older 7000 planters have 1/2 as many teeth per sprocket as the newer ones- I've had both. If you are on 30 inch rows, it is common to plant 9-12 seeds per foot, so with some experimenting with various sprocket combinations you can figure out the right combo, or go visit a neighbor with the same machine, and before next year- BUY THE MANUAL!!!!! I have no sympathy for people who spend hundreds or thousands to buy a machine and will not spend fifteen dollars to learn how to run it.!

Harsh words, but very true. JD and the other major manufacturers are real good about supplying manuals for older equipment. Balers, planters, & tractors especially have so many adjustments & things to watch & trouble-shooting. The manual is worth as much as the rest of the tools in your shop for these items.

You probably would have been a little more gentle if the info would have been supplied on row spacing & seeding rate desired or 'I just got this planter and my &^%^ dealer backordered the book' but as presented, not looking very far ahead.... :)

Dale, I'm not sure this will help you as I use 30" rows. We have a older planter with the longer sprocket teeth. Ours is set 11 driver and 9 driven. That gives us 10 seeds per ft. And we have the Kinze brush units.

Dave:
I don,t know about the Kinze metering cups but here is the gear ratios and some populations that I have had with the J D standard cups on a 7000 6-30 Planter . There are 2 sets of gears on these planters. The newer planters have twice as many teeth as the older ones. So it depends on which set you have. If older the lower numbers, which that is what this chart is. If newer just double these gear teeth #s. I am not sure what this is going to look like on your screen. it has jamed it all up to gether. the first # is your Driver, (bottom shaft)next is your Driven (top Shaft) then a ratio to 7 Places and the last numbers are for corn In thousands and soybeans in #s.
