Can anyone help with advise on Ford hay balers around 1980's model and also Massey Ferguson 503 balers?

actually i'm a fan of ford balers. they have a five phase knotter similar to NH. they use a packer fork that results in a good square bale. i've run afew and like them a lot. especially if cheep. i personally don't like massey, three phase knotter, can be finakey, knots often hange on bill hook. the bale formation pushes the knot off, not a knife arm. IMHO

Smirkey,

I'm with you. Mine left the field Saturday baling over 300 bales with one needing rebaling after I ran over it. Tied and packed Orchard grass, Fescue and rye all the same. They are typically considerably cheaper than a JD or NH so buy an extra one for parts. They do use the same Rasspe style of knotter that JD and NH use. NH or JD may be a safer bet (which the price reflects) but I do not see a need to run away from a Ford baler....

Run away from any Ford square baler.
I don't know about MF balers.
