I have just bought this secondhand mower and I am having trouble figuring out what the Hoop shaped tube is for. I have connected the 3pl to the tractor (fergy 35) but there is this extra bit. it has 2 steel bars with notches, and the hoop bit can be moved up and down. the bottom end of the bars connects thru an arm at each side to the wire rope that can lift or lower the unit. at the top of the hoop there is a connection that is like the top link connection but I can't figure where this goes? Any help anyone?

Ah yes I got it. It goes in the top link and the top link in it. Just did a couple of rounds of a 10 acre paddock... works great but now it is too dark to continue. :( I am using low second and just above idle. This is fairly slow, how fast should I travel?

run around pto speed...my father could tear up more 350 jd's by running foot throttle ...he broke 2 in one day and they were too expensive to repair...now have disc mowers..but the sickle needs to be around pto speed for them to cut good.the ground speed you will have to find out yourself, the grass conditions and ground conditions will control that....have nice day may god bless
