I have a 2 row planter with fert tanks. I think it's a 216-217. I have several sets of plates but wonder how to tell which plate for field corn or sweet corn or beans

just raise your planter wheels off the ground, put in different plate with seed in each hopper, then turn the wheels by hand. monitor how well it's dropping seeds (double drops, no drops, single drops, etc). then go with the plates that work best.

i bought an ancient dearborn planter with a set of corn plates. i had to fill in the cells with epoxy and file them out to accomodate the smaller sunflower seeds i planted. it was dropping 4-6 seeds per cell, now it's mostly single seeds and a few double seeds per drop. it's good enough for me and my dove field, but if you are doing this for financial gain it may not be the best way.

The seed plate you need is listed on the seed bag. The seed company sizes the seed according to the plate that fits the seed. The do not know what plate the customer has for his planter!

Most seed company will list a plate recomndation on the seed bag. A owners manual also will list some of the different plates. Lincolnagproducts.com has plate sizes. Other than that try fitting the seed in the plate.

The owners manual does not know what the seed customer will buy for seed. Neither does lincolnagproducts.
