It's Hay Time!!!!!!!!!!!

Setaside: Can't hay this where _I_ live, where do you live & what govt are you working with (under)? They _want_ grass to grow on setaside, no tillage allowed, so just totally different....

A bush hog does not normally make a good hay cutter, as it grinds up the hay too much. Works for 10 acres if you modify it, but not for 120 acres.

What is your climate, do you get 5 cuttings of alfalfa or 1 cutting of grass hay, and which type of hay do you want?

Are you looking for small square bales, or large round bales? What type of hay? How do you plan to handle the bales?

For 3-5 cuttings of 120 acres, you are looking at almost a full-time job & a great deal of $$$ in machinery. For 1 cutting in a northern dry area, much much less machinery & time needed.

So much to figure out, huh? :)

What are drum and disk mowers?! I still use an old Ford 501 sickle bar mower. I put new ledger plates on it and adjusted the sickle bar clearances this winter. I'm waiting for the rain to stop to see whether or not it works better this year than it did last.
