What can you tell me about a PT-7 mower conditioner? It's supposed to be in decent shape and they are asking $1000. How old is this thing and did it do a decent job?? What about parts? Anything in particular that I need to look at?

Thanks,
Casey

I should've also mentioned that haybines are little more expensive here than there are elsewhere, still some demand for them I guess. The guy also has a NH 472 that's supposed to be in decent shape, missing some sheet metal, and it needs a couple of bearings in the reel, asking price is $1200. I've been told that those bearings are a real pain to put in. Also worth mentioning, the rolls on both machines are supposed to be in good shape.

Thanks, Casey

That seems kind of high,,, I have a PT-10, and Had a PT-7 I only had one cause me trouble and that was a PT10 with the rubber band drive belt, here they generally run around 250-300 bucks for a PT7 and 400-500 for a PT10,, I am using a PT10 now that I paid 200 for,,,Jim

I have one and it does a good job. Check the rolls and make sure the rubber is in good shape and that the steel roll is not missing the raised sections (they can be replaced, but lots of work). If the rubber roll is not any good, it will cost you more than it is worth to have it recovered. Check the usual items, u-joints, slop in the gearbox. You can still get most parts for them along with the manuals. You need to remember that this is older technology because it uses a sickel bar to cut. However it was one of the best designs for conditioning. It uses full length rolls so they do not clog like most other models of mocos. Have fun.
