If you guys need help on balers, try www.texastwistonline.com. This guy has baled over 1 million bales in his life and rebuilds/fixes/advses and all as a hobby.

I told him my 24T was shearing a flywheel pin on nearly every bale. He told me what to do, did it and hums like a Singer (sewingmachine guys).

JMS/MS has hit the nail on the head. I feel reasonably sure that the problem is "baling too tight". Steve

If the twine is breaking at the base of the knot try loosening the twine holder tension one flat at a time and also sharpen the twine knife or replacing it. NH offers a kit to replace the knife without buying the hold knife arm. Hope this helps.

You might also have the bale tension too tight, or baling under 'tough'- wet conditions. (Later in the day, when moisture builds up). Try backing off the tension cranks, after doing what Kelly says.

Acording to my Handy dandy trouble shooting book. It says .
" Twine frayed or broken 1/2 inch back of knot.
Rough edge or groove on knife arm throat.
Use a file or emery cloth to smooth rough areas. "

I think Kelly C has it right. I have a MF 12 that was doing the same thing and there were burrs on the twine arm that caused it.
Good Luck
