I recently got an Allis Chalmers one row planter at an auction. Old plate style-- series 70 maybe? It came with a plastic soybean plate with a 7" o.d. and an inside hole diameter of 4.75". four drive cogs. I'm not sure that this the correct plate as the drive pegs seem too short to engage the plate. Anybody know do I need some kind of adapter or where can I get the correct plates? specifically looking for corn and sorghum plates. Thanks Frank

If you find a source for sorghum plates, please let me know. I have an old 2 row AC. I have corn plates and bean plates.

A few years ago i bought an antique A/C 2 row planter. I'm sure it was originally a snap coupler planter that somewhere along got converted to 3 pt. Plates are still available for this planter from local Agco dealer however they were 20-25$ each. You also might check at local feed stores. They usually sell plates for various makes of planters.

third party image

Dont know if this will be any help. The third item down in the picture is called a filler ring. It's not used with all plate's. The bottom item is called the False Ring. The false ring in corn hoppers have one smooth side and one grooved side. Always use false ring with smooth side up (toward seed plate). The only exception is when planting extra large seed. Then it may be necessary to turn the false ring over so grooved side is toward seed plate to provide a deeper cell.
