Busted up my JD 1207 couple of nights ago. Check for stress cracks on the gearbox support brackets. Got a mess of welding to do putting mine back together but it is going to be fixed. Had a friend come in and finish with a disc mower and what I had done with the conditioner was ready to bale tonight but what he did is not. It was a good side by side comparison of the two and the conditioner saved a day. Both were tedded the same and is the same thickness so I have a good control point. Will post pics of the breaks if you guys need them.

Been there done it. When I got my 1209 I noticed that the lower roller yoke was not correct. I did a tear down and correction. (BTW timing the rolers is not as easy as the manual as leads one to believe). While cleaning and removing build up I found that the top mount hole had cracked and was spliting right down the corner of the bracket. Removed and welded it up. I also found the adjuster had begain to break off. That funny, not so little, bolt was something like $40. I chalked it up to bad vibs from the improperly installed yoke. I plan on a full inspection of the affected area here in the next two weeks. It getting close to first cut up here. I do have to replace a few knifes, and now know the value of bolt together cutter bars..... .

I only need to look at mine - the back strap on mine in behind the gearbox broke last summer, got that welded up. Then last fall the metal cracked out around the (lower, I think?) roller shaft. Pretty much took a ring out right around the bearing. Might want to check that on yours, looks ugly to get everything out of the way to weld it up. Need to get to that right after corn planting - have a month yet before hay season here.
