JD 810 plow.....good? bad?

just got a JD 810 3pt. 14" 3 bottom plow. is it possible to add a forth bottom to it? looks like it would bolt right on.( I am working a deal to get another 810) I plan on pulling it with a new holland TN65, 4X4, 57 engine hp.any suggestions? ideas? any helpful input would be appreciated. thanks steve

I just bought a couple of 810 3 bottom plows myself. One was parts to fix the other. I,m going to pull it with my JD520. My parts book and operators manuel show the 4 bottom set but the change over doesn't look easy without the correct parts. On my plows I'm hoping to cut 3 bottom parts plow down to a 2 bottom but there is one brace that is going to be hard to make. Both of my plows had the braces for the top link all bent up. There was some real wild farmer bracing done on one. I think 4 bottoms would make this weakness worse.

It might be feasible to do, but if you only have 57 horses to pull it I wouldn't do it. You will be better off running a gear faster than working the tractor too hard.

I tried them out,(finally got 'em shined up) and they work nice.I have been pulling them in 3rd and 4th gear, about 1800 rpm with virtually zero draw on the engine.so I think I will try to put a forth bottom on them just to see what happens. if it proves too much for it, I'll take #4 back off.
