I've heard that John Deere plows pull hard with a three point system. I run Farmall Super M and am looking for a 2 bottom or 3 bottom plow for garden type work. I would appreciate any advice on plows and their use. Thanks for any help. Dick in Vermont.

Most of the John Deere 3 point plows are "deep draft" plows, meant to plow 8"+ deep. That makes 'em pull hard. If you're looking for a good, easy pulling plow, look for a Ford model 101 plow. Parts are still available, and it's a nice piece. Oliver plows are fairly easy pulling too. The IH "Chief" and "Super Chief" plows aren't bad, but parts are starting to get tough to find. I sell used equipment. When I get the chance, I'll take a set of plows, and "scour" them. (Wear the rust off of the moldboards) Over the years, I've hooked on to just about every kind of plow out there. The Fords pull as easy as any. JMHO. John

Indydirtfarmer, Thanks for the help. I don't know much about plowing but at least I will know what to look for. Thanks Again.
