I have a Yanmar RS1202 tiller on the back of my 1510D. Makes an awesome counter weight for the FEL, but a little large when manuevering.

I would like to know the approximate weight of it so that I can fashion a weight box to place on the 3pt conversion I have.

Help??

Thanks,
capt jake

Jake: A 55 gallon barrel filled with concrete makes a nice counter weight. Line it up to your tractor and make holes so you can put a 3 point cross bar through the barrel, right height so you can pick this off the ground with 3 point. make another hole about 12 to 15 inches from top for steel to enter for top link. Add a bit of rebar tieing your added parts in place. Fill the barrel with concrete. Some like to fill the barrel just to level of top link, then they can top it up with sand. The first one I built was all sand fill. Problem with that is the mounting isn't solid, holes in barrel enlarge, you loose sand. You also over time get other holes in barrel from rust, backing into rock piles, etc. If you put lots of rebar in the concrete, you will have a counter weight long after the barrel rusts out.

Another great item on the concrete barrel, if you have a second tractor with push bar or blade, you can push on the barrel. Not something you would ever use a lot, but handy if you need it.

Sounds a bit much for a tiny 1510D. I have been told to be very careful not to overload it.

If I knew the weight of the tiller, I could easily calculate what size box or drum to use as a ballast box.

Thanks
