How to protect wood handles

i just replaced the handles on my potato plow. they came untreated. i don't really want to paint them. should i linseed oil or something?

Boiled linseed oil should do trick. Problems with paints and varnishs they hold moisture. With the linseed oil there is no hardened surface for moisture to become trapped behind to split or blister to get out from. If neccasary redo every so often. Oil will soak into oil. lay on varnish or paint.

The boiled linseed oil works better than the raw oil.

I would either use linseed oil or marine spar varnish. If always stored inside they really don't need much.

i like linseed oil. On exposed wood on boats they use teek oil. i think it is somekind of mixture containing linseed but don't know what else. You should be able to buy it at the marina.
