Has anyone hooked up a moisture meter on a 3010. I have 24 volt and need to get 12 volt for my meter with neg. ground?

All I have is the operators manual, I dont have a service manual. But, In the operators manual it shows the Right-Hand battery is negative ground and the Left-Hand battery is positive ground. Best way to find the key controled, negative ground system. Turn the key on, Take a volt meter, hold the neg - leed (black) on the tractor frame, take the pos + leed (red) and touch to wires. If the meter shows +12 volts, its the neg - ground side. If it trys to go below 0 or shows -12 volts, its the pos + ground side. When you find a wire that shows +12 volts, turn key off, if you can still get a +12 volt reading off that wire, then you have to look for a different wire.

You have two 12v batteries on the 3010. They are hooked in series to the starter, and all 12v systems come off of one or the other. For major loads like lights, etc. you need to balance the load. For a simple load like a meter, just hook directly to one battery, just like you would for a planter monitor, etc.

Don't know the specifics of a 3010, but if it is a - ground, you can hook a fuse holder to the junction between the 2 batteries for 12 volts.

I think that a 3010 has both 12v and 24 v available. 12v to the instrument cluster (and lights??) and 24v to the starter. I'd try to locate a 12v circuit, hot when key is on, not when off, and tie into it.

Be careful locating your 12V circuit, check the polarity first. One side is positive ground the other is negetive.
