i have a nh 718 chopper & it came with two corn heads. 822 & 824. the only difference seems to
be a extra gathering chain above the cutting discs on the 824. does this work make it work alot better ? has anybody used a 822 & how did they like it ?

txs -- jim

The 822 was built from '78 to '83. The 824 started in 1981 and is still in production 23 years later. The 824 chains extend in front of the cutting discs. The 822 will cut corn and it will fall over before the chains grab it. I'll bet the 822 is in good shape, because most guys couldn't stand to use it.

I will confirm everything Rick said. There was a sheet metal kit for the 822 that helped a little and if you set the row spacing 2" narrower than what your corn is planted helped a little as well, however, the 824 is a man's corn head while the 822 is..... .., well, you know!! Steve
