Did you ever notice?

Most implements are shipped "knocked down" and final assembled at the dealership by kids, drifters or the town drunk, without regard for assembly instructions (if they even exist). My point is that I've observed and purchased implements many times that were not correctly assembled. I'd take them apart and re-assemble them correctly and get the performance the implement was designed to do. Take a good look at your implements; it's a safe bet that something isn't assembled correctly.

Your point is well taken. Whenever I can, I get the impliment unassembled, and put it together myself. At least that way, I know what I did, and who to blame! A couple of purchases come to mind, one where the factory failed to properly adjust a control cable linkage, leading to a breakdown of the cable assembly, and failure to properly secure a drive pulley on the motor shaft, leading to a breakdown. Before I had run the machine 50 yards, it had failed twice. Another purchase came unassembled, and was sold that way. The manual was in english, but was so badly translated as to be of absolutely no value. Good thing I was familiar with the type of machine, and could assemble without instructions..
so much for the "world economy!"

I am one of those guys that does that kind of work, and no, I am not a kid, or a town drunk. I will agree with you however when you say that some machinery is assembled wrong, the problem is the fact that the manufacturer no longer includes set-up manuals with the product, or if the manual is included, it is nothing more than some pencil sketch drawings and a very vague and incomplete text. Also, the hardware included with the machine may or may not be the correct items, or, in most cases, is short by several items. You also need to realize that quite a bit of todays machinery is not manufactured here in the U.S., even though it carries a recognized brand name. If you are having problems, you need to contact not only the dealer you bought it from, but also the company that imported the machine. It is getting to be a very real problem. sorry for the rant.

I agree with you about the lack of proper tools and parts missing for you to assemble properly. My Morra tedder I bought from ASC was just that way including a severe design problem which my cutting torch has solved.

Upon notifying ASC, they said they would do whatever I wanted to satisfy me. I said I'll fix the design problem and you ship me the missing parts and I'll figure out how to assemble it but you tell your mfgr to put some directions in the box. They were prompt in sending the parts free of charge.
