I found one setting at an estate sale near me, and it looks to be complete, but has been sitting for a few years. They cleaned all of the hay out of it when it was put up, so there is just some surface rust in the chute. Is there anything particularly good or bad about these? Are they newer or older than the Model 14T? Also, what is a decent price range for these, in Eastern Kansas?

Bob,
I bought a 214T new in 1960, with Wisconsin engine, did a lot of custom baling plus my own hay for about 15 yrs. The difference in the 14T and 214T is that the 214T was a much heavier built baler (maybe made a little larger bale, I don't know for sure). A weakness was the bearing in the crank arm which was a bronze insert bearing vs. a sealed ball bearing on the later balers and they worn out pretty fast. Got to constantly grease them every hour or so. They did make a nice consistent size bale but I know that the 346 I later used had much more capacity than the 214T. I don't think one in good shape around here would bring more than $300-$400, but at an auction you can never tell. If you are planning on doing much baling, a 346, 347, or 348 would be a much better baler but would also cost considerably more. Good luck.
