There is a loud noise coming from the gearbox and or the overriding clutch area. The gears in the gear box look O.K. There is some end play in the overriding clutch and the sprocket that runs the two rollers. Is there a way to remove the end play here?

Matthew

Mathew, I'm pretty sure the noise you hear is not in the gearbox itself, but in the over-running clutch mechanism. Under the assumption that you are using a tractor with live pto, I have a very simple fix for you. Take the pins of the clutch and turn them so they are against the jaws of the piece next to the pins and weld those 2 pieces solid. You do not need an over-running clutch unless you are using an old tractor. You haybine will be much quieter. Steve
