I've had a Planet for 10 years to plant green beans and peas. This year I want to try red beets and pelleted carrot seed. Has any one had any experience with these? What seed disc worked best? I have a guide but I realize that sometime actual results are different. Thanks for your time, Tom

Tom- In the NW in silt clay I use #20-#23 for beets and chard depending on seed size. My seeds seeem to vary in size from year to year and variety to variety. Pelleted carrot seed might be close to the same. At one time I actually calibrated my seeder by putting it on a bench, marking the drive wheel (if memory serves it is three feet in diameter) and running it by hand catching the seeds in a container and counting them to determine seed rate. That is to say three rotations=9', count seeds and divide by nine for seeds/foot, then by 12 for seeds/inch. The following is a list of the results that work for me, EW=earthway seeder & PJ=planet jr. hope this helps. Note that I do not use pelleted seed, and the last number is depth of planting.
