I have an old Buzzsaw and was thinkin of connecting a 5 hp b&s engine to it so I wouldnt have to keep connecting it to my tractor to use it. Would this work, would it be powerful enough to cut my kindling?

I had a small buzzsaw that I put an electric motor on . Came off a silo unloader, don't remember the horsepower, but at least three horse worked very well, and very quiet.

At the very least, I expect that you would have to add a very large flywheel to keep the saw from pulling the engine down when in use. Probably more trouble than worth. Perhaps a John Deere flywheel.
It would be the pits getting it up to speed with the 5 h.p. engine.

I have an old buzz saw on a David Bradley walk behind garden tractor - 24" blade and a 6HP engine. I works for small stuff but it could use a much bigger engine. A fellow I know has an stand alone buzz saw with a 30" blade powered by a Ford N engine and it a cutting dream. Don't under power or you will be unhappy.
