I have two sprockets on a manure spreader that I can not take the set screws from. What is the chance that I can cut the cast with a torch ? Can I at least melt out the set screws ?

cast don't cut wort a hoot with a torch. this is in your favor. you should be able to blow out the set screws and save the threads. Then just heat up the sprockets red hot and they will drive right off.
