I need to replace a 1 and 1/4" square shaft on a rotovator and the local implement dealer doesn't have anything in that size. Does anyone have a suggestion as to what type of material this shaft should be, ie. cold rolled carbon steel or a certain alloy. I plan on going to a steel supplier and wanted to get some suggestions here first. Thanks in advance.

In addition to mail order such as Shoup, most any good farm supply store or ag dealership of any color will have what you need sitting on the shelf in your town. I'd get the real deal, not guess on what type of iron - lots of torq & such on those things.

Shoup Part "Spring 2004" catalog has 1 1/4" square shafts on page 110. You can probably just order whatever you need and then cut it to size. {sizes from 41" to 87.625 lengths}

You wouldn't have to "guess at what type of material you need... just cut and use!

Shoup Manufacturing Co.

{They have a website, but they have limited number of parts listed there!}

ps... I just found this while scanning through the catalog before posting....

{page 105 of "Spring 2004" catalog}
"Disc Axles Made To order" Do you need an axle that is not listed in the catalog? SHOUP will make it for you. Call 800-627-6137 to get a price and place your order!

Good luck!
