Hi, I'm reblading a IHC model 37 disk. Cleaning it up some also. This disk has spindles and hubs instead of bearings. Where the blade axle mounts to the frame, there is a split hub which holds the axle spindle. The lower half of the hub is broken and needs replaced. Anyone know of salvage yards or any other place I may locate one of these, or the entire spindle/hub assembly?
Thanks for the input.

Deamer,

I have the exact same disc that you are talking about. It is the old "grease block" type instead of the sealed bearing newer type. You simply pump it full of a whole bunch of grease before each use. You are probably going to have to call around to find a boneyard that has one for parts. One suggestion I would make is that ocassionally you will need to take the block apart (involves taking all the blades and spools off) and clean the block out as the grease turns hard and no longer lubricates. This will prevent the need for replacing any more of the blocks in the future.

Jim,
I tore the entire disk down one gang at a time and rebladed them. Put on 18" blades. Cleaned all spacers from rust build up. Tore the grease blocks apart, completely cleaned them, filled with new grease, added new mounting bolt/washers/nuts. Now to try it out. I still need one of the upper housings for the block, but am going to try it the way it is. The upper part of the block has a small piece broken out of it, but will still work. Over time it will build up a lot of dirt inside. You should have seen the insides of the grease blocks! Rock hard dirt with a little grease! CIH has them (order), but each half is $84.00 :( Was looking for used ones, but haven't found any yet. I tried all the small yards in my area, Central Il. with no luck. Need some input on bigger Yards in the midwest. Thanks for the input,it is appreciated.

It sounds as if your in the same bind as me ( see above post) only I think you may be in luck, last year I had the same problem with my fasthitch disc # 36 I think and found the parts from CIH, they were not cheap but they had them.
