Hay Dr,
I saw your post below about any XL, L or Rebel could bale silage or dry hay and wanted to ask if there was a silage kit option available for the Rebels? I haven't seen any advertisements in the sales brochures and was just curious if this was an omission. I was thinking a silage kit was not optional for the Rebel and like I said, am just curious. I'm pretty sure with today's baler technology the Rebel could bale it anyway but was wandering it the scrapers were available.

The Rebel has the same bearing system in it as the 504I Silage bale had in it. We have a have a customer that has baled 1000 silage bales a year since 1995 when he purchased his 504 Super I Silage baler. So for durability the Rebel can take it but it is true what James says the L & XL balers have larger shafts and bearings and will handle silage better in the long run. It is similar to the difference between a 3/4 ton pickup and a 1 ton truck.

The rebel can bale it, but no there isn't an option for it. So you might have to stop and cut hay off the rollers. If you are going to do a few silage bales (few = less than 100 or so) the rebel will do OK. If you are going to do more than that I would not recomend the rebel for silage. You would be more prone to bearing trouble on the lower drive and bottom tailgate roller.
