I got a Kuhn GF44 tedder with a tractor I bought. It needs about 10 teeth and three arms. It's abut 16' wide. Is it worth fixing? TIA

I would fix it if you put up hay. It saves a lot
of time curing hay to bale. The tines are in the
$8-9 each range. Check with Padula Bros. in
Lunenburg, MA or R.N. Johnson in Walpole, NH for
a price on the arms. My guess as to value of the
tedder in the MA area would be $800-1200 if it
is in good condition, so it's worth fixing.

What's your question; price, or functionality?

If it's functionality, I just bought the teddy function because my sickle mower left wads of grass after cutting that wouldn't cure properly. The teddy scatters everything for fast even curing and I am tickled to have it. Now I can bale the next day or so and don't worry about a "HOT" bale burning my barn down. And the hay is nice and green...sun didn't have a chance to bleach it out.

I would do a search for Kuhn and see if there is a local dealer. If so get an estimate on the parts and repairs and compare it to new and also get his opinion if possible. In my area they seem to be right up behind Deere and New Holland in holding their value. Depends on condition, parts availibilty, and if it was a popular model. Good Luck.

For us guys in the NE a good tedder is better than sliced bread and bottled beer put together. Even with a moco I use the tedder to stir the hay. It helps promote drying and kicks it around so the air can get to it after a dew. Fix it and try it. You'll love it. Cuts drying time by at least a day in any weather.
