Older ??? Howard rotovator information needed

I found an older Howard rotovator for sale. Its a 48" model that he wants $400.00 for with the original tines and 75% left on them. He said that there is a unit (I guess the gear box or some kind of drive unit) that bolts to the back of the tractor where the pto shield bolts down that drives the unit. Is this the standard setup on Howards? Or is this a unit produced during Howards time of management change. Is it worth what he is asking? Or should I wait and get a later year model?

Any pro and con comments on these units are greatly appreciated.

I just talked to this fellow again and he said that the drive line actually bolts up to the rear of the tractor at the 4 bolt holes. He further stated that the rotovater can be turned on and off at the housing where it bolts up at. Is this the way the newer ones are set up as well? Or do they quick attach with a pto shaft only?

I don't know anything about the Howard you are refering to.

Keeps in mind, NOT everything that says Howard on it, is HD!! Howard has built some "light duty tillers" over the years.

All the "modern rotavators" are 3 point hitch attachment tools, powered by your tractors pto.

I called Howard and described it to them and they said it was a unit from the 50s and to stay away as the mounting flange/plate bolt pattern (although interchangeable) was tractor specific and different plates (hard to find now) were needed to mount it up to different tractor flanges.
