I am thinking of buying these from a neighbor but he doesn't know what brand they are and there is no tag on them or markings that I can find. Does any of you knowledgeable folks know what make and model they may be? The paint is faded red but there is some blue showing through. Ford maybe or IHC?

I know where there is a McPheron church up on Punkin Ridge. The name may be spelled different though, I'm not sure. What zip code? Mine is 16656 (Irvona, PA) How close are you?

Looks like a Ford 101 with missing coulters.

DUDE! You got my plows! I bought a set just like them a few weeks ago. I went through the same "identity crisis" with mine. They're definately Ford 101's. Made from 1947 to 1957. The 101 series was continued through the mid 70's with a few minor changes. Here's a picture of mine, after a "restoration/Ford blue paint job. There's never been a better set of plows made. Good piece. John

Another note on those plows. Notice how the "Drafting lever" is set up on the unpainted set, and how it's set up on the painted ones. You can reverse the Notched plate, and move the lever to any one of the three holes in the plate, so as to make the drafting adjustment handier to reach from the tractor seat. (Ford refers to the lever as "Width of cut" in their manuals....I'm more used to John Deere "terminology" which refers to them as drafting adjustment controls")John

Are those 14" or 16"? Mine are 16", and I'd like to have the 14" version. I bought mine from a guy that had replaced every "wear point" on them. He hooked them to his tractor, and they wouldn't go in the ground. He thought they were sprung. I bought them for $125. When I got them home, I started looking at them. Something didn't look quite right. After hooking them to my tractor, it became obvious. When he took them apart, and re-assembled them, the "drawbar" was put on upside down. Afew minutes with a wrench, and I had a GREAT set of plows.....CHEAP TOO. John

these are 14"s. The guy baught them with intentions of using them but, I guess he's chainged his mind. They are not in near as nice shape as yours but, he only wants $150 for them- just what he paid. They are missing the coulters and the rear moldboard is broken- a piece out right down by the shin. Also no heel on the back landside. The moldboard is right around 55-60 dollars I think. The shins are worn but, they're only about $8 each. I don't have a source for the coulters or the heel yet. I won't know how bad the points or landsides are worn until I lift it in hte air with a tractor, but they probably are. What do you think about the price? There is probably nothing there that i can't fix but, maybe I should try to find something that doesn't need all that work. Not affraid of the work, I usually buy stuff like this and fix it up, then sell it too cheap. Probably something wrong with me but, it's so darn fun.

Good price. At the very least, you could remove the rear bottom, (and frame) and turn them into 2 x 14". They sell for around $300 in my area. Coulters are "findable" at salvage yards. The most difficult part to find is the coulter clamps. They wouldn't be impossible to make yourself. Parts are available through most any aftermarket source. Ford 101's are still plentiful. Most plows are getting hard to find parts for. I'm stocking up on "spare parts" for mine. I'd give $150 in a heartbeat! John

Does your plow have a wheel attached to the rear landside or just the heel itself? I've seen another set in a picture that had a wheel there. You are right I could make the clamps for the coulters once I find them. I don't want to run them as two bottom, if I do get them I'll probably fix them right if possible (can find all the parts).

No tail-wheel on mine either. The 2 bottom I owned 20 years ago had one. Mine has the "heel" you're refering to. It'll stay in proper "draft line", provided you use the lever to adjust the angle of cut in the correct way. I've already plowed about 30 acres with mine this spring. I'm doing about 130 acres of old worn out hayfields, planting corn or soybeans this summer, and re-planting them as hayfields this fall. I've got a 5 bottom plow that'll be used on either my 4020, or 4440, and the 3 bottom with a 2440. Any ol' excuse to plow again! John

Thank you much. I at least know where I can find parts and such. Have you ever used these type plows before and if so, how do they work? Thanks again.

Most of my hours plowing have been in front of a set of 14" 101's hooked to a Ford 2000. They work great. Agri Supply carries parts for them as does most farm supply houses.
